This is our New Year season. On one side - science fiction Quake 4 and FEAR, on the other - war Call of Duty 2, "Eastern Front". So for fun, we live in the very first line of the review compared the best achievements of world and domestic igropromyshlennosti shooter from the creators of the infamous Kreed. Not because we are supposedly losing the will at the sight of Russian fairy games, and for another reason: "Eastern Front" - a rare native shooter in which you can play without feeling ashamed of his origin.
Alignment is as follows: sit in the city of Voronezh, programmers, artists, modelers, and other wonderful people who call themselves Burut Creative Team. Do mean play. Long ago, they started from scratch to write your own engine Xtend. Two years ago, it came out, um, Kreed, for which we shall not discuss here. A year ago - «Kreed: Battle for Savitar. This year - "Eastern Front", with no almost no relation to the two above-mentioned science-fiction nightmare. In such a scheme has obvious advantages and disadvantages are obvious: the first game unfinished engine will not so hot any (Kreed, sweetheart, RIP), but then, when the motor attains speed, development costs have plummeted, and the quality of games will increase significantly (East Front). And now we can say that the shooter Burut there are things that we like. We can even count them on one hand.
First. Stable engine. Xtend in its current form is kept better than motor Overseas Black & White 2. Not often you meet Russian shooter who can go from start to finish, not stumbling for a single mistake. "Eastern Front" - one of them. And in the future will certainly patches that will improve and accelerate that, and so works well and quickly.

Second. Nice graphics. Not so nice to be "like in Half-Life 2, but also nothing. On it, we probably will not spread the idea of the tree. The entire spread in the screenshots, and disk space - a demo version of the game. See for yourself, do me a favor.
Third. Subjects World War II, a gift that has been worn into holes in all possible genres, but does not lose popularity. In the "Eastern Front" you play as a super soldier zombies created by the Nazis. Ironically, the zombie is subordinate to the resistance forces and sent to the struggle against Nazi Germany and its creators.
Fourth. Supernormal protagonist. Rather, one supernormal abilities - the ability to put "The Shield of Time". You press the Q, and envelops the character bluish sphere, ready to stop the enemy's bullets. When you disable the protection, bullet, or fly back, or fall to the floor. In the early game, this shield pretty useless, but closer to the final level without playing it becomes quite difficult.
Fifth. "The system of emotions", so named, apparently, by pure misunderstanding. Roughly speaking, if you kill the three Germans with a knife - instantly receive one extra point of health for the rest of the game. If you kill three shots to the head - the shield is gaining power. It would seem a trifle, and play fun.

The last (and only) boss in the game - the burly, your eyes rise up from the installation to create super-soldiers. He has absolutely insane amount of health, drags healthy minigun, and can punch holes in the walls, changing the way the tide of battle. Guarantee: you will spend on his entire ammunition.

And most importantly - the fact that each new level of "Eastern Front" is not similar to previous ones. Game can be played without experiencing painful deja vu and not suffering from thinking about aimlessly time spent. Let the campaign lasts less than ten hours, but you spend them not in the gray bowels Kreed, and different from each other boroughs. Spoil the game, first of all, outrageous videos on the engine, where there is no facial animation, no competent camera, no sensible scenario. Meaning in them either, but the message that the developers wanted us to convey, it was possible to pass a thousand other ways, without resorting to a completely ridiculous saver. Secondly, a terrible voice. All the men in the game say Gopnik voice from the street (and it seems that now they zavedut eternal boorish "to smoke is not there?"), And women, in general, not better.
Total. The result was a domestic shooter of the year? Turned out. Can the game to compete with foreign grandees? In some areas - can. Progress is evident: "Eastern Front" on the head better than past attempts to command. A couple of years, you see, rival Call of Duty 3 will be released.

The action takes place in Germany, and on the walls of the German underground hang very real Soviet posters (the trophy, I suppose?).
